Confirmed in the role of scrum coach Antonio Mannato, supported by assistant coach Luca Bigi.

Originally from Reggio Emilia, 35 years old, Guareschi has experience as a coach in the youth teams of Rugby Reggio, Valorugby and, since 2020, in Modena Rugby 1965, where he arrived to lead the Under 18s, before moving between the Seniors last summer on the bench of Giacobazzi B. During his coaching career the new white-green-blue coach also had federal positions, including that of manager of the Modena-Reggio Training Centre.

As Enrico Freddipresident of Modena Rugby 1965: “Ours was a choice of continuity, enhancing the experience of Andrea Rovina in the new role of technical director and entrusting the technical guidance of the First team to Gianluca Guareschi, after the fruitful journey with the youth teams and the Cadet. We have full confidence in both of them, we are convinced that they can do well in the new roles that have been entrusted to them. The company’s line is to grow both the players and the coaches internally: Guareschi already knows the club’s philosophy and was chosen for the ability he has shown to grow the players and develop their potential.”

Andrea Rovina he comments on his new role like this: “The company has entrusted me with responsibility for the Seniors and Under 18 groups, which concretely means tracing the technical line of the teams and developing the staff, in terms of preparation and research for new profiles. Mine will be a coordination role, but also a very operational one: I will often go on the pitch to lend a hand to the coaches and support them throughout the season. These five years on Giacobazzi’s bench have been special, we have achieved important results, prestigious records such as the highest number of points scored and the fewest points conceded, the number of tries scored, the longest streak of consecutive victories. We made 40 players make their debut and we came within 4 points of Serie A: if I look at the progress made, I can only be fully satisfied.”

“I am honored by the proposal that the club made to me and I will do my utmost to deserve this trust – are the first words as coach of Giacobazzi Gianluca Guareschi –. The desire is to continue Rovina’s excellent work, maintaining the imprint he has given to a group that I consider valid and of great quality. Together with my staff, who are central to the project, I want to bring my idea of rugby, a dynamic rugby, in which the players feel valued and can also have fun on the pitch.”
