tears, regrets and apologies after the fall

Among those disappointed with today’s Sprint in Barcelona there is certainly Raul Fernandez, who on the fifth lap was in first position with a few meters of advantage and fell in turn 10. Perhaps he would not have won, but he threw away a potentially good result, of which he needs given that he has a contract that expires at the end of 2024. Today was a lesson to be learned in view of tomorrow’s long race and the future.

MotoGP Barcelona, Fernandez’s bitterness

The Madrid rider is very sorry for the fall, when he arrived at the garage he cried and then apologized to the Trackhouse team. These are his words to Sky Sport MotoGP “I feel very bad. Not for me, especially for the team who did an incredible job. Yesterday I wasn’t comfortable with the bike, but today we had an incredible qualifying, putting the bike on the front row. In the race I was very comfortable, I made a mistake because I had a bad exit from turn 9 and I tried to compensate. I braked a little late… This is part of the process of learning for the future. After three years in MotoGP this is the first time I feel strong and happy, we are finally at a competitive level“.

Fernandez has good potential in Catalonia and tomorrow he will try to exploit it to achieve a good placing, it will be necessary to keep his explosiveness at bay and manage the race intelligently: “Tomorrow I will race a race with a little more head. It will be more difficult, we will have more fuel and we will have to manage the rear tire. However we are working well and when you feel comfortable with the bike then the result arrives. We have to continue like this, it will surely come. If it’s not tomorrow, we’ll think about it in the future. Of course I want to have fun like today“.

Unfortunately, the Trackhouse Racing team ended the Sprint with two retirements. The team managed by Davide Brivio could have scored some important points and will try again tomorrow. The RS-GP is going strong in Barcelona, so both Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira can achieve good results.
