There nineteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024 it is the Mortegliano-Sappada. The length is 157km and is classified as one 3 star stop. Height difference 2,850 meters. We return to the mountains after the previous flat section: we are not faced with a very hard stage but rather one of medium difficulty, which obviously should not be taken lightly. The day includes in particular the climbs of Passo Duron and Sella Valcalda, as well as obviously the finale on Cima Sappada.
Route of the nineteenth stage: Mortegliano-Sappada
The runners will cross the territory of the province of Udine for most of the stage, touching places such as San Daniele del Friuli, Carnia with Tolmezzo, Cercivento and Sappada.
Altimetry of the nineteenth stage
For the first 80 km (approximately) the stage does not present any particular altitude difficulties. Once past Tolmezzo the trend will undergo a certain upward movement, with the succession of climbs of the Passo Duron, going down the hill towards Cercivento and then back up with the Sella Valcada and finally the Cima Sappada. At around -7 from the finish line the road descends, with a finish that will still present up to 10% tears, until the final kilometer which flattens out.

Climbs of the nineteenth stage
At the end of the stage the riders will have to face the Duron Passsecond category GPM of 4.4 km at an average of 9.6% and peaks of 10.8%, the Sella Valcalda (third category, 6.5 km at 5.9%) and finally the Cima Sappada (second category, 7.4 km at 5.4%) second category.
