The FIPAV (Italian Volleyball Federation) counts among its referees the young Matteo Massimiani, born in 2007.

Matteo began his course at CONI at the age of fifteen, brilliantly passing all the courses and exams before the age required by the national federation itself, matching his scholastic skills that have always accompanied him.

The barrier of age required to start refereeing, which requires the age of sixteen to have already been completed, was extraordinarily overcome with a “special permit”, issued by the federation, dictated precisely by the student’s excellent skills in passing exams and managing of matches on the pitch together with the instructors.

To date Matteo referees several matches in the regional territory, including first category ones, including the final that brought the Monterotondo Volleyball team to Serie D.

CONI, together with the referees’ federation, involved Matteo in national events that took place at the Foro Italico in Rome.

Matteo, as well as being a referee, has been a volleyball player for years, a great leader, and has introduced several childhood friends who grew up together at school to this sport; in May this year, Matteo received a call-up from a Roman team that plays in Serie D, while the federation put him on the list for the national team.
