The solution aims to offer effective anti-sinking of the fork during braking and limited lowering of the rear during acceleration. Here’s what we know

TOeven if the rapid sinking of the fork braking refers to sharp and sudden braking typical of circuit driving, even on the road you will have had to perform an emergency braking resulting in rapid sinking of the fork and lightening the rear. A similar circumstance is that in which, in the event of strong acceleration, the rear suspension tends to crush with consequent lightening of the front and related intervention of the anti-wheeling which effectively cuts the power to avoid wheelies capable of limiting acceleration. In short, this eternal problem involves primarily the world of racing, but also that of mere mortals.

About this Yamaha has filed a new patent which should be very useful to ensure more effective and safe driving on the road and more profitable and high-performance on the track. With the advent of electronic suspension management and with the experience gained in MotoGP, the technology can initially be used on the Yamaha R1, MT-09 and R6. The patent involves both brake management, hydraulic brakes and suspension spring loading; apparently, both two aspects will be managed by the system that it should be able to intelligently distribute braking between front and rear and, at the same time, manage hydraulic brakes and preload of the suspension springs.

In fact this is an evolution of the electronic suspension system which, in this case also involves brake management and makes the system even more intelligent and advanced. We don’t know when the system will be operational on “license plate and lights” motorcycles but the fact that the patent has been filed for a system that is probably in use on MotoGPs suggests real use in a not too long period of time.
