Bergamo. A new ambitious goal for the Sport Academy for Solidarity of Bergamo: crossing the finish line of three million euros donated to support projects in the Bergamo area, alongside the most vulnerable.

It is with this new objective that the 46th edition of the tennis tournament is about to start, which will take place from 16 to 31 May in the highly confirmed location of the Cittadella dello Sport in via Monte Gleno, a center renovated thanks also to the intervention of the association which in 2022 has decided to bring the event back to the city in style: it is here that all the matches of the tennis and padel tournaments will be played, accompanied as always by an excellent catering service and many moments of leisure for the whole family (free entry, from Monday to Friday from 5pm to midnight, with the exception of Saturday 6pm).

This year too the numbers prove the idea put forward by John Licinifounder of the Sports Academy: there are already more than 300 confirmed participants, coming from the world of sport, entertainment and TV who will thus give their contribution towards the great common goal of solidarity.

A vocation that the association has not abandoned even in 2024, with the great support for the public-private healthcare project that has given rise to a new oncology center at the San Francesco nursing home, which will take care of the timely care of the sick and their infusion of the drug which will be prepared and supplied by the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital: a facility inaugurated on 20 April and already very active.

But the fundraising continues and will also contribute to Anmic transport service and to a independent housing project for the children of the Italian Association of People with Down syndrome in Bergamo.

“From the beginning of our business we have always wanted to make our commitment tangible – he underlines Giovanni Licini – Then during the Covid emergency there was an epochal turning point, which saw us at the forefront in responding to the urgent requests of the Bergamo healthcare system. As then, today too we have taken up the appeal for local oncology and at our side we have found many friends, from Volley Bergamo to Pedretti Serramenti, who have dedicated their energies to actively participate in our project”.

At the presentation, in the council room of the Province of Bergamo, the city, provincial and regional political authorities, representatives of the sporting, social, healthcare and military world were present, who brought their greetings and thanks for what the Sports Academy is carrying on in the territory.

A moment of great emotion was the delivery of a symbolic recognition to Louis Cocchettipatron of Pedretti Serramenti, who stood out for his initiatives to support the Academy’s cause, both in terms of time dedicated and funds raised.

The new look of the institutional website of the Academy of Sport was also presented, a restyling carried out free of charge by Ribo di Orio al Serio: improved web design, the portal now has a richer, clearer and more functional homepage, which immediately gives the right importance to finalized and ongoing projects.

The words of were the perfect synthesis of the interventions that alternated during the morning Marco shore, president of Coni Lombardia: “What the Academy does is the best example of how sport can benefit the whole community: from the values ​​it transmits to the demonstration that in the end the difference is always made by people. This is how the Academy tries to build a better world through sport and therefore a big thank you to everyone, from the board of directors to the volunteers.”

The last event of the 46th edition of the tournament will be the Gala on Tuesday 4 June: that will be the occasion in which, in addition to the awards in the sports field, as per tradition, awards will be given to some personalities who have particularly distinguished themselves in their fields of activity . The Golden VIPs 2024 are the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgettithe entrepreneur and number one of Unionchimica Claudio Bombers and the Atalanta footballer Giorgio Scalvini.
