Imperia. After having repeated the title of territorial champion of the Fipav Ponente Committee on 7 April, the boys from Imperia complete the work with the classic “icing on the cake”.
In the morning at the Pala Diamante in GE-Bolzaneto in the semi-final valid for access to the regional final, a clear victory with the Carcare Volleyball team from Valbormi with a round 3/0 and sets closed at 17/12/12.
In the afternoon transfer to the CUS Genova gym for the final against Colombo Genova who in the other semi-final had defeated Logistel Vdm from La Spezia in three sets.
Valerio Gugliotta and Massimiliano Niggi’s boys started off strong immediately and won the first set (25/22). The reaction of the Genoese team was ready, equalizing the set score (19/25). The third set is a monologue of the Imperia people who impose themselves (25/16).
Dragged and supported by the incessant cheering of the parents present in large numbers in the stands, upon returning to the pitch, captain Pietro Carrera and his teammates immediately put their foot on the accelerator, creating a significant break (6/2) which allows them to manage the return of the Genoese team and win the title of Regional Champion (25/21).
The title of Regional Champion opens the doors for Imperia Volley to direct qualification among the best sixteen U17 teams at the National Final in Lanciano (CH) from 22 to 26 May.
