The regular season ended last weekend, now it’s time for the play-offs for the regional Serie D volleyball championship.

There Michele Caroli Ruvowho finished in second place in group A, will have the field factor in their favor and, in game 1, will challenge the Volleyball Alezio 98ranked fifth in group B. It is played at PalaVolta at 6.30 pm.

The two teams have already faced each other this season: last March 30th in the single-match semi-final of the Puglia Cup, a match won by the Ruvo team with the final score of 3-0. Obviously today’s challenge will be completely different from this match.

«Now we know that a new championship is starting – declares the coach Gianluca Aportone-. During the first part of the season, as a group we tried in every way to win first place, which was worth direct promotion, but we didn’t succeed thanks to Terlizzi.

Now we want to face these play-offs as best we can: these are inside/outside challenges, you can’t make mistakes if you want to aim for promotion to Serie C.

The opponent we will face will be very tough, as the Salento team is an excellent and very experienced team. He could cheat on the final placing, but in sport this means nothing, because surprises are always around the corner.

Today’s race will be very close and in the end the winner will be the one who manages to be the best, the most patient and above all the one who makes the fewest mistakes during the race. Volley Alezio could certainly improve their final positioning, considering that their roster includes veteran players who make the difference in this category.

There will also be little time to prepare for match 2 as best as possible, and we should be very skilled and good at managing the away match, because Volley Alezio makes its home advantage count a lot.”

The advance valid for the ninth matchday of the match was played on Friday evening Division II championship: it was played at the Troia stadium with the direct clash between the home team Silver SunEcana and it Studio AQ Ruvo. For the Ruvo team it was the last match, while the Foggia team has one match less.

It didn’t go well for the Ruvo team, suffering their first defeat, which could prove decisive for direct promotion to the first division. Yet the very young Ruvo boys had started well, taking home the first set with a score of 22-25.

A reaction is expected from the first in the standings: the tension has certainly played a bad joke on the Ruvo team. Silver SunEcana Troia also wins the third set 25-19.

This brings us to the fourth and final set, Studio AQ Ruvo is unable to counteract the inertia of the match, and is forced to give in also in this set, which ends with the final score 25-17.

Studio AQ Ruvo remains stuck at 26 points, with a two-point advantage over Silver SunEcana Troia which rises to 24 points, and in the event of success on the last day against Lucera, Troia would gain direct promotion; while the Ruvos will have to play in the play-offs.
