On the Cesena pitch Romagna RFC demonstrated why they are first in the standings. Technique, organization, effectiveness, Romagna gave an extraordinary lesson in rugby. The Gubbio Rugby Wolves, courageous as always, did not hold back and for 80 minutes, perhaps even more, they defended, tackled, went to the ground and got up, and again tackles, pushing, supporting, advancing . The final result was merciless, 88-0, with 14 tries scored. A day of great rugby, finished with an excellent third half. Coach McDonnell’s words after the match: “This is a high-level team, my compliments to Romagna. They will be in Serie A next and they have shown a game of the highest caliber. We have never given up and played against a team so strong it is always a great experience both for the team and for each player individually. The boys gave 100% and left no stone unturned on the pitch, so I am satisfied with our growth in Serie B B because we grew a lot during the season and played well.” For Rugby Gubbio the following took the field: Roberto Rogari, Alessio Ghirelli, Francesco Giorgini, Riccardo Tomassoli, Giovanni Di Fiore, Davide Gioè, Alessandro Zuccheri, Jonathan Rafael Scarpa, Federico Sonini, Marco Cecchetti, Francesco Paciotti, Sebastiano Capannelli, Mattia Scotti, Ayoub Mafrouh, Emanuele Rossi, Samuel Giacomini, Giuseppe Casagrande, Andrea Tognoloni, Gabriele Micale, Marco Pascolini, Francesco Lorenzi, Michele Sciamanna. Alongside coach Joe McDonnell are assistant coaches Lucio Sollevanti, Paolo Menichetti, Daniele Fiorucci and Mirco Pauselli. Now for Rugby Gubbio, thanks to the mathematical salvation obtained with three days to go, they have to face, at home, the last match of the Championship, Saturday 4 May in Gubbio, 3.30 pm, against Jesi. Good news instead from Ancona, where the U18 Centauri beat the Unione Rugbistica Anconitana 28-24 after a hard-fought match until the end.
