At the end of the Spanish GP race of the 2024 MotoGP, a heated argument took place in the Race Direction room between the rider Johann Zarco and the head of the FIM Commissioners Freddie Spencer: in the end the very nervous Frenchman was chased away.
While all the spotlights were inevitably focused on the great protagonists of the race MotoGP Spanish GP 2024 Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, in the motorhome of the FIM Race Direction on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in the meantime one has taken place quarrel between the driver Johann Zarco and the head of the Panel of Commissioners of the International Federation Freddie Spencer.
The Frenchman from the LCR team finished the race he was in fact summoned by the Stewards together with Aleix Espargaro to clarify what happened in the accident in which they were protagonists in the initial stages of the race and, according to what the two drivers later said, tempers immediately heated up. In fact, as soon as Johann Zarco arrived he exploded, railing against the commissioners especially for the decisions taken by the latter in the Sprint Race on Saturday: “He was very angry with the commissioners for other things that happened yesterday and couldn’t contain himself. I was on his side, even though I didn’t like the way he acted” Aleix Espargaro said.
Zarco himself then went into even more detail who, after having calmed down his anger, explained what happened within Race Direction in Jerez: “I was in Race Direction and Freddie Spencer was reviewing the contact with us. It seemed like he was looking at me as if he wanted to know what I wanted. He wanted me to complain about Aleix. I told him that I wouldn’t complain, but also that he can’t do this job because he doesn’t make the right decisions at the right times.. So I told him ‘don’t ask me what you have to do’. He looked at us as if we were two children and wanted to teach us a moral lesson. At that point I told him: ‘Freddie, maybe you have a lot of passion but you don’t make the right decisions. You’re not in the right place’” the French rider said regarding the argument with the number one of the MotoGP Stewards Panel.

What infuriated Johann Zarco was above all what was decided regarding the contact between Brad Binder and Pecco Bagnaia which took place in the sprint race on Saturday: “Brad’s action in the Sprint, for example… If Bezzecchi hadn’t been inside he could have passed, because Pecco was surprised by Binder, raised the bike and hit Marco. At that moment there was an opportunity to sanction Brad because he had to take into account the fact that it could be complicated. So I told him ‘at least realize and control it’” continued the rider who moved to the Honda satellite team at the beginning of this season.
A nervousness that he was then unable to keep at bay so much so that, as Aleix Espargaro revealed, in the end the FIM Commissioners decided to kick him out of the Race Direction: “They had to take him away. Not for my action, eh, but for what happened in there. At that point I went out with him” the Spaniard from Aprilia commented, effectively revealing how the heated argument in Race Direction in Jerez between Johann Zarco and the president of the FIM Stewards Panel which monitors what happens on the track in MotoGP ended.
