Today the rookie finished tenth, thanks to a bad start and a crash in the morning during the warm up. Pedro Acosta is a positive surprise in every MotoGP weekend. On Saturday he climbed onto the Sprint podium, climbing to second position in the championship. But not everything always goes perfectly: after yesterday’s crash in qualifying, the Murcian rider crashed his KTM into the barriers during the warm up here in Jerez. Fortunately nothing serious, he only came out with a few scratches. At the time of the long race, Acosta had some difficulties in the opening spurt. Despite this, he managed to recover positions and climb up to tenth.
“I wouldn’t describe it as a completely disastrous weekend. It was a weekend in which we were in the top 10, I learned that you can’t make a big mess in qualifying because then, especially on small circuits like this where there is little space from the start to the first corner, there is always a little movement. The accident in the warm up naturally had an impact the departurethere was a bit of humidity on the lines and I fell, these things can happen. The mechanics fixed an entire motorcycle in an hour and a half, I want to thank Dani’s mechanics, Augusto and all the mechanics who worked on my bike, they did a super job. It’s true that we weren’t ready to win, but we had the pace of the fifth, of Bastianini and Binder. We therefore need to improve the start and qualifying to avoid these mistakes. They thought we would do magic here in Jerez, but from weekends like this you learn that you have to stay ahead and start well“.
