Explosive last stage at the Tour de Romandie with arrival in Vernier. There wasn’t a moment of calm in this fraction, but Carlos Rodriguez and Ineos Grenadiers managed to manage the situation as best as possible, taking home the general classification without worries. He is still the winner today Dorian Godon: double for the transalpine, a super Decathlon AG2R La Difesa Team, this year’s surprise team, rejoices again.

The first part of the race was very intense and covered at high speeds to find the right escape. Four of them found it: Remi Cavagna (Movistar Team), Marco Brenner (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), Alexander Balmer (Swiss Cycling) and Darren Rafferty (EF Education – EasyPost). The group, however, did not leave too much space, remaining in the order of 3 minutes behind.

On the last ascent towards Dardagny the fuse was lit in the platoon and many tried to run away. From Florian Lipowitz, third in the general classification, through Juan Ayuso and our Andrea Vendrame, but no one managed to make a difference, with the group remaining more or less compact.

Subsequently, 12 kilometers from the finish, the duo shot by Michael Valgren (EF Education-Easy Post) and Michael Hepburn (Team Jayco Alula). However, Lidl-Trek was very active at the end and ended all the attempts. It was a very particular sprint, also affected by the rain: in the last 150 meters he took off Dorian Godon who once again managed to fool everyone. Behind him a disappointed man Simone Consonni (Lidl-Trek) who seemed fit to jump the transalpine, but didn’t have the space needed to take the wheel. Dion Smith (Intermarché – Wanty) completes the podium.
