The free access pitches in Gorla Maggiore reopen

The pitches in Gorla Maggiore reopen.

They will be open from May 1st

After the long closure for the redevelopment, modernization and relaunch of the recreational-sports area of Via Roma, from 1 May the spaces and games within the municipal area will be made available for free use by citizens, in particular for children and families who thus find a haven for the summer. A choice that the Zappamiglio administration wanted to make to begin returning the area to the people, while waiting to entrust its management. In this first phase, in fact, the properties – the bar and the changing rooms of the tennis and beach volleyball courts – will be closed and not accessible until they are handed over to the person who wins the tender.

Mayor Zappamiglio

«The works are finished and the area is ready to be used – explains the mayor – and so we decided not to wait for the tender for the management of the bar and the custody of the area and we open anyway. You will be able to use the games, stop in the greenery and access both from via Roma and from the San Vitale park, between which it becomes a connection”. As regards the tender, the project to be put up for tender will be delivered by the end of the month, which requires that the future manager also undertakes to carry out some interventions, from the roofing of the tennis court to the beach volleyball court, while the works for the new service parking spaces for the sector have yet to be contracted out. «After all, it will be a beautiful redevelopment, which will give the town a renewed and improved space. In the meantime, let’s get back to living it.”

The feast of San Vitale

The first collective occasion will be Sunday 5 May with the San Vitale celebration, for which the former Campetti will be open and usable, complete with a coffee corner at the entrance.
