Milan defeated Trento 3-1 (25-21; 18-25; 25-20; 25-21) in the game 4 of the final for third place of Superlega, the top Italian men’s volleyball championship. The Milanese have thus closed the series in their favor, have acquired the prestigious position and above all they qualified for the next edition of the Champions League together with Perugia and Monza (protagonists of the challenge for the scudetto).
The Dolomiteswho had finished the regular season in first position, they sensationally remain out of the next edition of the top European competition. Itas will have to settle for the second best of the CEV Cup, but it is sensational that on Sunday 5 May they will play the final of the current edition of the Champions League against the Polish side Wegiel: even if they raise the trophy to the sky, according to the current regulations, they will not be able to defend the tournament next season (unless wild-cards which at the moment do not seem to be contemplated).
