Sport and volunteering. The Cortemaggiore Pallavicino Rotary Club hosted professor Fabio Bastiani, founding member of the Polisportiva Asd San Nicolò, sports director and coach since 1985, accompanied by president Laura Gaidolfi. Representatives of an association born and raised with the aim of promoting volleyball by organizing courses aimed at children and teenagers and managing to train athletes who have reached excellent levels at regional and international levels. Generations of children have been educated in the ASD and accompanied throughout the growth and maturation process typical of team sports.

Fabio Bastiani was recognized with the “Cavallino d’oro” Award for having dedicated a large part of his life to sport and for introducing many young people to sport, volleyball in particular; the decision to reward Bastiani was unanimous, a sign of appreciation for the work he carried out in the country’s community. Great credit to Fabio for managing the association over all these years and for always being there for his kids and their families.
The importance of sport in the area
The evening organized by Rotary was characterized by numerous interventions and moments of discussion on the need for the presence of associations in the area that help young people and orient them towards sport. Also interesting is the screening of a video with photographs that have marked the history of the association up to the present day, demonstrating the radical change that has occurred both due to the different needs of the children which have changed over time and the sports equipment available.
