Zongshen Cyclone RC 680 is the Chinese super sports car really coming? – News

Honda-style inline-4 engine, single-sided swingarm and a traditionally sporty design; perhaps only for the Chinese domestic market

April 26, 2024

Dapart from the Chinese brand Zongshen Motorcycles with a classic sporting nature had already been discovered, equipped with a full fairing, lines traditionally linked to the super sports bike market, but always small in size, nothing that could worry the market of the most accredited and prestigious sports cars. The name Cyclone is therefore not an absolute novelty but, apparently, if until now we have seen it linked to small displacements (400cc), now the arrival of the RC680R is closer, which we already told you about about six months ago, the new Cyclone RC 680 R.

Even if at the moment there is no official communication e there is a good chance that initially the model will remain intended only for the Chinese market internally, it seems that this super sports car uses an inline four-cylinder apparently very similar to that of Hondto. The inspiration seems to come from the engine that is profitably on board the CBR 650 R and CB 650 Ra great engine in terms of usability and driving pleasure.

Din the few images available you can also notice a equally similar chassis to what is used by Honda while at the rear there appears a single-sided swingarm. This peculiarity is now linked to a limited number of motorbikes in the sporting scene which in many cases have been abandoned due to the higher production costs and the higher weight compared to a double-sided swingarm. Then you notice one USD fork and a brake compartment apparently suited to the supersport spirit of the bike. Even design doesn’t lie, aerodynamic wings, a complete hull that recalls important performances. In reality in China 100hp is a barrier for driving permits, so this engine should remain below that. We just have to wait for future developments.
