The last acts of the 2023/24 Serie B are often also the most decisive, they certainly are for the Rugby Varese, who can still hope for direct salvation. Just 4 points behind Recco, second to last, everything is still possible and the red and whites want to do everything to succeed in this undertaking. On the penultimate day of the championship, Varese will look for other very important points and will have to do it on the Ivrea Rugby pitch. the match is scheduled for Sunday 28 April with kick-off at 3.30pm.
For Varese this is another key match in this final phase of the season. The red and whites achieved important victories against Rho and Cernusco, successes that allowed Varese to move up the rankings and now they want to complete this comeback. The match in Ivrea is within reach, the challenge is complicated but Varese can play their cards and get points from the Piedmontese team. The match on the last day against Recco remains the decisive one, but with a victory on the Ivrea pitch the red and whites could at least draw even with the Ligurians before the direct clash. Before doing the calculations, however, Varese has to beat Ivrea away and it is not an easy challenge for anyone. Ivrea can count on a very solid forward package, the Piedmontese’s static phases are a weapon not to be underestimated and their physicality in general. Even in Varese the scrum has become a strong point, so a very tough and heated confrontation is expected up front. The first leg saw Varese emerge victorious from the field (20-7) after a very well managed and controlled match, the red and whites will therefore have to try to repeat themselves with another high-level performance, where every detail must be taken care of as best as possible. Varese is preparing to face an already safe Ivrea, which has less motivation than the red and whites, but the hosts certainly don’t want to lose the second match against Varese and are looking for the last home points of their season. The red and whites are called to obtain a victory that is difficult to achieve, but within reach and the desire to continue this positive streak is not lacking, just as the possibilities of saving themselves by avoiding the fateful playouts are not lacking at all. At the moment this is Varese’s objective and the team will pursue it until the end.

It won’t be an easy match, they are safe but it means little, we won in the first leg, this time we are at their home and they certainly want a rematch. They have a heavy and physical scrum, we will have to be very quick and good at countering them up front. We have an excellent group and the team is growing, as demonstrated by the latest results, but to save ourselves we must continue like this, to grow from every point of view: match management, attitude, contact and so on. We want to save ourselves, we can do it and first we must obtain a positive result in Ivrea“.
