Cremona, Pecchia: “Happy to have proved everyone wrong”

Interviewed by Fabrizio Fabbri on “Corriere dello Sport”, Andrew Pecchia commented on the arithmetic salvation achieved by his Vanoli Cremona: “There are two days left, which we want to honor in the best possible way. So we wait to toast all together with our patron Aldo Vanoli. He is the driving force of this Cremona that never ceases to amaze over the years. Never a scene, a word out of place. Rather, encouragement, even after a bad defeat, a pat on the back and if you need dinner together.”

Pecchia has completed a long comeback after his cruciate injury two years ago: “Tears of anger but also of pain. Then there were difficult times, with the relegation of Vanoli, the re-education and the great desire to show that I was the usual Andrea, indeed even stronger than before. I succeeded because the beautiful fairy tale of the big family here, as I was saying, it’s a reality. I felt the trust of everyone: of the club, of the people. And here I am now celebrating a result that is a small championship for us. Happy to have proven wrong all those who said we were the favorites for relegation. Nice to overturn the critics’ opinion, victory after victory. And even in defeats we have been a united group, foreigners and Italians, in good times and in bad times. It has always been like this pressure, because no one goes on the pitch to lose, but with the ability to read moments and objectives.”

Pecchia is now a pillar of the club: “Here in Cremona I have already achieved great results: the A2 Super Cup and Italian Cup, promotion. I am proud to be captain of this group and the example I lead is my way of being. I believe in work culture and that everything in life happens for a reason and nothing is impossible. And it will always be like this.”
