Important news arrives from China, home of the fifth round of the 2024 F1 World Championship. Aston Martin has officially lodged a complaint against the Spaniard Carlos Sainz for what happened in Q2 from the qualifying on the Shanghai track and the consequent exposure of Red flagbefore returning to the track and the Iberian returning to the pits.
The actions of the Madrilenian, in fact, could represent an infringement of article 39.6 of the sporting regulations. The rule states that “A driver who stops his car on the track during a qualifying session can no longer take part in it, even if he is able to restart“. The FIA statement confirms this protest by the British team.
