the data on victories surprises everyone

The fact you ‘don’t expect’: Casper Ruud has become the player with the most victories in the 2024 season. The Norwegian even surpassed Jannik Sinner by two successes, despite the South Tyrolean’s excellent and incredible start to the year.

The several additional tournaments in which the 25-year-old participated, as well as naturally a continuity in results, allowed him to overtake the South Tyrolean in this special ranking. 27 successes have been achieved so far by the Oslo native, who can further increase his tally starting from the semi-final of the ATP 500 in Barcelona: on Saturday he will play against the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry for a place in the final act of the competition.

The former world number 2 already boasts a final (in the Master 1000 in Monte-Carlo) and a semi-final, in Estoril, on clay and has absolutely no intention of stopping. Even the final acts achieved in Los Cabos and Acapulco on hard courts, between February and March, allowed Ruud to earn this record and return to the top 10 in the ATP world ranking (now at number 6).

Sinner will restart from Monte-Carlo

The events in which the 22-year-old from San Candido took part were 5, but excellent, and he collected a splendid balance sheet of 25 victories and only 2 defeats (beaten only by Carlos Alcaraz in Indian Wells in the semi-final and recently by Stefanos Tsitsipas in Monte -Carlo, in a much discussed match).

Unlike the Norwegian, the Italian already boasts three titles in 2024: the very important Australian Open in Melbourne, the 500 in Rotterdam and the 1000 in Miami. The current world number 2 will now look for further successes and satisfactions on clay, between Madrid but above all Rome and Paris.

The objective is to continue to do well and try to get closer to the top of the ranking, currently occupied by Novak Djokovic who will however have to defend several points until Roland Garros.
