URC: Glasgow Warriors-Sharks, match and highlights

At the Scotstoun Stadium it was the hosts who led the URC match. Already in the 11th minute they broke the deadlock with Horne’s try but the Glasgow Warriors were not satisfied; despite having to struggle to overcome a solid Sharks defence, the second goal also arrived in the 29th minute, this time by Williamson.

But the first half didn’t just see the hosts as protagonists. Down 14-0, the Sharks finally reacted by moving into the opponent’s half with a long attacking phase. Glasgow Warriors kept them away from the try line but committed multiple fouls; in the end it was Cummings who paid the price, being sent to the bench for 10 minutes. With numerical superiority, the South Africans didn’t take long to score with Jooste. However, the conversion was missing, so the Sharks went to rest even after the break.

At the start of the second half it was Steyn’s try, with the conversion of the usual Horne, that put the game on the right track for the Glasgow Warriors. In the 53rd minute Mchunu’s goal closed the gap a little to 21-10, but overall the second half saw few useful opportunities to change the direction of the game and the match ended on that score.

URC: Ulster-Cardiff, match and highlights

The match between Ulster and Cardiff, which took place at the Kingspan Stadium, was decided in the final minutes. The score at half-time was 6-7 for the Welsh, who scored a goal with Cabango in the 11th minute. The left wing was also the protagonist in the first few minutes of the second half, scoring the brace that took Cardiff beyond the break.

An advantage which, however, during the last quarter of the match, was progressively eroded by Ulster who, with McCann and Cooney’s kicks, came close. And right on the penultimate turn of the clock here was the episode the Irish were waiting for: Carre was penalized for a knock-on considered intentional by referee Adamson. Despite the Cardiff player’s displeasure with this decision, Cooney was able to appear on the pitch and hit the posts for the final 19-17 in favor of Ulster.
