A Sprint Race open to multiple solutions. Red Bull favorites in qualifying
Good morning friends of OA Sport. During the night, the Sprint Race of the 2024 F1 Chinese GP will take place at 5.00 am. We will instead update you in this live text starting from 9.00 with the qualifications.
Let’s clarify. Yesterday (Friday 19 April) the qualifications for the Sprint scheduled for dawn on Saturday 20 April took place. Therefore today’s qualifying has nothing to do with it, it will be a separate competition which will serve to outline the starting grid in view of the race on Sunday 21 April.
There shouldn’t be any rain today. In dry conditions, Red Bull seemed a step above the competition, with Sergio Perez proving to be lively as rarely on recent occasions, to the point of thinking of worrying world champion Max Verstappen.
Those hoping for dry conditions are undoubtedly Ferrari, who appeared difficult to drive on wet asphalt and were even overtaken by Aston Martin, McLaren and Mercedes. The Maranello team expects to return to at least second place under normal conditions.
