Anticipation is growing for the final of the women’s A2 play-offs which, for the first time, will see a Friulian team, CDA Volley Talmassons Fvg, attempt to attack the A1. Fresh from the success in the “beautiful” semifinal in Messina, coach Leonardo Barbieri’s girls are preparing for the first match of the series, which they will play tomorrow at 5pm at the Palaborsani in Castellanza, in the province of Varese, where Futura Giovani Busto Arsizio awaits them.
The trip
Contrary to what happened in the two semi-final matches on Sicilian soil, there will be a large group of fans following the girls of the CDA. The club has in fact organized a bus to accompany the team to make the players feel its warmth in the first match of the most important series of the season. Not only that, there will be many supporters of coach Barbieri, captain Beatrice Negretti and vice-captain Alessia Populini, who were born and raised, volleyball and otherwise, in Lombardy, cheering for the Board of Directors. «I sense great enthusiasm in the girls – says sporting director Gianni De Paoli – who have trained hard as always and who can’t wait to play. We will have to pay close attention to Busto’s serve: if we manage to receive accurately Eze will be able to push the game for his attackers and we hope that our block and our defense will be able to contain their most powerful spikers.”
The opponents
For Busto Arsizio it has been a season of ups and downs so far. The Lombard team had the great merit of always remaining at the top of the league table but had to bow, in the championship and in the Italian Cup final played in February in Trieste, to the excessive power of Perugia, who received direct promotion and the trophy .
In the promotion pool Busto Arsizio recorded a fluctuating performance while still managing to maintain second position. On Thursday 25 April, at 6pm, in Latisana, game two will take place which could already close the games and the air that will be breathed in the arena will be precisely that of the A1. «An additional grandstand will be installed – continues De Paoli – which will bring the capacity of the arena to 2,500 people. The leaders of the women’s Legavolley will be present and we will prepare everything for a possible awards ceremony. There will also be 14 cameras active for video checks, just like an A1 race.”
