TEPIC (Mexico) – The journey begins with two splendid victories Marta Menegatti And Valentina Gottardi in the Elite 16 tournament of the Beach Pro Tour being played in Tepic, Mexico.

Marta and Valentina, in fact, achieved success on their debut against the beaten Americans Hughes/Cheng 2-1 (13-21, 21-16, 15-13). In the second match the Italians, at the end of a very hard-fought match, also overcame the strong Canadians Pavan-McBain with a score of 2-1 (21-18, 15-21, 15-12). Gottardi and Menegatti will face the Spanish Liliana-Paula this evening at 7pm Italian time in the last match of pool B.

Yesterday evening they made their debut in the men’s draw Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava. The Azzurri, at the end of a point-to-point match, had to give in to the Spanish Herrera-Gavira in a tie-break 1-2 (21-18, 19-21, 12-15). In the second match played this morning at 7 am Italian Paolo and Samuele were overtaken by the Dutch pair formed by Boermans – de Groot 0-2 (21-16, 21-11). On the night between 19 and 20 April (01:00) the Azzurri will face the Americans Crabb Tr./Brunner in the last match of group C.

The other Italian couple to take the field in the Mexican Elite 16 tournament was the one formed by Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambulabeaten in their debut match 1-2 (21-18, 19-21-16-14) from the world champions Perusic/Schweiner. The Italian pair was then overtaken in the second outing of pool B by the Brazilians George-Andre 0-2 (16-21, 20-22).
This evening at 9pm Ranghieri and Carambula will return to the pitch in Tepic against the Poles Bryl and Losiak
