Milan, 31 December 2025 – The great scare at the sunset of summer after the holiday in the “buen retreat” of Forte dei Marmi. Massimo Moratti he comes emergency hospitalized on 26 August at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano and transferred immediately to the intensive care department (to be intubated) a cause of severe pneumonia and various complications. His wife is at his side Milly and five children. As always. Then the days of waiting, fear and hope, in a week in which the health conditions were quite serious and the “uncontrolled” voices made everyone worry, before being able to breathe independently again.

A month later, September 27th, the end of the nightmare, the beginning of convalescence and progressive physical re-education, but above all the return home where he is spending the holidays these days with the dearest affections. Just over four months apartto the eighty-year-old former president of Inter (the most successful in the club’s history, 16 trophies won) think back to that “fortunately bad moment passed”, given the continued progress of recent weeks. After all the medical staff had been clear: “President, no excessive efforts. Enjoy your family.” He listened and today he is certainly more serene. Also because they are always there the Nerazzurri colors to characterize his days: Inter on TV is an event not to be missed.
President Moratti, how are you now?
“Better, I would say definitely better. There were very complicated days, but I can also tell you that in the hospital I practically didn’t realize what had happened. When they extubated me I began to understand, then everything was told to me. I think I’m a very lucky person, who fell into the right hands.”
For a few days he kept his family, friends and millions of fans in suspense. The Nerazzurri people dedicated nice words to her and even banners of encouragement.
“Yes, they told me this. I found all this affection towards me from people wonderful, it’s never taken for granted. And I really thank our supporters from the bottom of my heart but also all the former footballers, friends and athletes who made their presence felt alongside me and my family. But the biggest thanks goes to all the doctors and healthcare staff, they were extraordinary…”.

“I spent a few days in Imbersago, but then I preferred to stay in Milan. More convenient. And then I love my festively lit city, it’s always beautiful and it’s pleasant to take a walk even when there are few people around.”

In the meantime he also had the opportunity to see his Inter team which is giving him some satisfaction despite a 2025 without trophies.
“We are halfway through the season, but at least in the league I think I can say that they are the most complete team. They play well, they have heart and courage, they entertain, they are a very united group. There may be some defeats but Inter are able to make progress in all competitions: the more matches go by and they win, the more this team gives the feeling of always being able to improve. And then we have a great captain…”.
