Family members: “We really can’t understand.” The 19-year-old, born in Rome, was adopted at six years old by the family who lives in Fondi. She enrolled in Chemistry. The last phone call home: «I’m fine but I’m not coming back»
«I’m fine, don’t worry. I’m not going home.” It was last November 26th. The last time the parents of Aurora Livoli they heard their daughter on the phone. Then the darkness. A disturbing silence to the point that on the morning of December 10th, her father Ferdinando, owner of a well-known dental laboratory in Monte San Biagio, near Fondi (Latina), presented himself to the police to report the disappearance of the 19-year-old. This time not for a voluntary removal, as had already happened other times, the last one on November 4th, but due to a real disappearance. “We can’t understand what happened”, explain Aurora’s heartbroken family, closed in their grief. The father and mother, an architect, together with an uncle, who is a city councilor, rushed to Milan after recognizing their daughter’s face in the photo sent by the investigators.

A shock. The news of the identification of the young woman, found dead the day before yesterday in the courtyard of the buildings in via Paruta, quickly spread around the town, as well as Fondi, where the family lives in the hamlet of Salto Covino. Aurora was born in Rome, but had always lived there after being adopted at six years old. She graduated last year from Itis «Pacinotti» of Fondi, the largest school in the area, which also includes the branch of Santi Cosma e Damiano, sadly famous since September because it was attended by the 14-year-old Paolo Mendicocommitted suicide according to his parents because he was a victim of bullying (four pupils are under investigation for incitement to suicide). After high school, Aurora began studying chemistry. “A very intelligent girl,” says those who knew her.
A gap of more than three weeks
Which however hid a profound uneasiness which led her, now of age, to move away from home on several occasions. Often in Milan, where his family feared that “he might hang out with bad company”. In short, that she had entered a dangerous circle. It is unclear whether his cell phone has been tracked in the past three weeks from the missing person report to the discovery of the body. A period of time in which, as demonstrated by the video released yesterday of her last hours, the 19-year-old was alive and seemed to be well.

«I have Lucifer inside me», he wrote on his Instagram profile, in which videos retouched with graphics apps appear accompanied by musical songs, then bounced on TikTok and Threads. “Too much time to think makes you think badly,” the 19-year-old wrote again before finishing her school career.
Uncle: «She left without money. We wanted to follow her”
«Aurora’s father called me after seeing the photo in online newspapers. We recognized her by her posture. Then we went to the Carabinieri barracks in Fondi and here they showed us a dramatic photo. The family were very brave at this stage, but are now devastated by grief. For official recognition, her dental records will be needed because there is no possibility of DNA, as she was adopted.” Massimo Basile, Aurora’s uncle, who was close to the family during this period, tells the story, advising them to file a complaint a few days ago to at least try to understand if, in her departure, she was having problems, perhaps she had been stopped or identified. «His – the relative further specifies – was a separation without trauma, indeed almost romantic. She had left home without money, without change, but there had been no arguments or problems at the base. His is a wealthy family, he had everything.” And he continues: «We had thought about hiring a private investigator, also to better understand what he was doing – recalls Basile – also because we were very worried».
Aurora had been missing from home for almost two months. It remains to be understood whether she always remained in Milan, which had become a point of reference for her, or whether she also went elsewhere. The family members told the police that they had become suspicious that this time too she had gone right there. At that point more than a month had passed since his departure and a week since the phone call in which he said not to worry, but also that he had no intention of returning to Fondi. Not even for Christmas, which in fact he could have spent in Milan. Alone – at least that’s how it seemed -, without her family. It was the first time.
