The US military says it has conducted another attack on a vessel accused of smuggling drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing two people. The attack, announced by the US Southern Command on social media on Monday, brings the total number of known naval attacks to 30 and the number of people killed to at least 107 since the beginning of September.
Alongside the attacks, the Trump administration has strengthened military forces in the region as part of an escalating pressure campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Asked Monday about “an explosion in Venezuela,” President Donald Trump said the United States had “hit” a pier along a coast where boats accused of carrying drugs “load.”

The United States struck a “large facility” in Venezuela last week as part of its campaign against drug trafficking. Donald Trump said this in a radio interview given on Friday to Wac, the radio station owned by journalist John Catsimatidis, a Trump supporter. “They had a large facility where the ships came from” with the drugs but “we hit it, and hit it very hard,” explained the US president.
This is the first American attack inside Venezuela since Trump began his pressure campaign against Nicolas Maduro.
«They have a large installation where the boats leave from. Two nights ago we destroyed it” said the US president in response to a question on the massive naval campaign launched to counter the shipment of drugs from Venezuela. Trump then defined the operation as a “hard blow” without providing further details on the location of the infrastructure.
