World champion
Lando Norris he is the eleventh British driver to have entered the roll of honor of Formula 1, the first after the world championship victory won by Lewis Hamilton in 2020. In that year, the current Ferrari driver won his seventh world title, as well as his sixth at the wheel of Mercedes. At the moment, in addition to the aforementioned Norris and Hamilton, two other drivers are present on the starting grid with the title of ‘world champions’: Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen.
While Norris is still in seventh heaven together with a compatriot team like McLaren (Constructors’ champion), the same cannot be said for Sir Lewis Hamilton, who in his first year with Ferrari has never achieved a pole or a podium in 24 races held (a negative record for a Ferrari driver).
The hope of an English derby
A disastrous year therefore for #44, unlike the future #1, who expressed his desire for the next season: “I would like to fight with Lewis a bit more – he commented to Sky Sports F1 – Hamilton proved himself to be, arguably, the greatest of all time. Everyone knows that if there is anyone who can bounce back from difficult years, it is Sir Hamilton, and I would love to have more battles against him. It’s always a privilege to compete against someone who is the best in the world. There are many of these great drivers on the grid. There are Fernando, Lewis, Max… Many of us want to follow in their footsteps.”
2026 will be a special year in the history of F1, with many new features in the technical regulations that make predictions about the next championship very difficult. In addition to the desire to be able to duel more with Hamilton, for Norris the main objective remains one: “Next year, everyone will have a chance. Everyone can’t wait. My rivals will try to take the title away from me, and I want to try to keep itand I can’t wait to face this battle.”
