How the Russia-NATO war can break out: here is Italy’s role

A war between Russia and NATO – or rather some European countries that are part of the Atlantic Alliance given the current more aloof position on the part of the United States – now appears to be sadly inevitable given what is happening in Ukraine.

Predictably – the situation was glaringly obvious to everyone except Western leaders – the Tough Ukrainian troops no longer seem to be able to slow down the Russian advancewith the Moscow army which, thanks to the arrival of the good weather, began attacking vehemently again, conquering further territories.

Despite the new military aid – 60 billion dollars from the USA alone – the Ukrainian defensive line could soon collapse, with the Russia ready to reach the two main enemy cities: Kiev and Odessa. Basically Vladimir Putin appears to be on the verge of winning this damned war, with the Born which could never allow such an epilogue.

Ukraine is on the brink of collapse – admitted the deputy head of Kiev intelligence, Vadym Skibitskyinterviewed by The Economist -. I see no way for Ukraine to win this war on the ground”.

Moreover, without adequate weapons, without ammunition and practically since the beginning of the war without aviation, the Ukrainian army, lacking at least half a million men, has so far achieved an authentic military miracle by resisting Russia for over two years.

However, the West – lying knowing it was lying – continued to deceive Kiev and dupe its citizens, talking about war that could be won by Ukraine and a Russia that would collapse under the weight of sanctions as reiterated several times by Mario Draghi.

Instead, now we find ourselves thinking about it how a piece of NATO could soon directly go to warwith various hypotheses that are already being examined so as not to let Putin emerge victorious from this conflict.

Russia-NATO war: the scenarios

In recent days the reasoning of various analysts has all been focused on trying to understand how one could happen war between NATO and Russiagiven that every diplomatic strategy was abandoned after the failure of the negotiations in Turkey at the behest of the United States and the United Kingdom.

The Republic thus he described two possible scenarios: the first is the involvement of a third country in the conflictor Belarus, while the second is a Russian attack on a NATO member (Baltics or Poland) or Moldova.

If one of these hypotheses were to occur, then the Born would be ready to move from words to deeds by sending its soldiers to Ukraine, thus starting what could be defined as the third World war.

Moreover, leaders such as Emmanuel Macron, Donald Tusk and Charles Michel have long made it clear that theEurope is experiencing a pre-war phasewith the EU having veered towards a war economy and all the countries rushing to arm themselves.

Italy’s role in a war against Russia

In such a scenario a question arises spontaneously: what would be the role of Italy in a possible war between Russia and – even just a part – of NATO? Even if Matteo Salvini and Guido Crosetto in different ways criticized Emmanuel Macron’s last words, we could hardly avoid the involvement of our soldiers.

As declared by Minister Crosetto a year ago, theItaly participates in the activities of the Eastern flank of NATO with approximately 3,000 unitswith our guys currently stationed in Bulgaria, Hungary and Latvia.

In total, NATO would have already deployed approximately close to the Ukrainian border 100,000 menwhile Russia is currently using it at the front 300,000 soldiers. As things stand, however, it seems likely that, at least initially, only France will send its troops to Ukraine.

The Chief of Staff of the French Army, General Pierre Schillin an article published on Le Monde he explained that “L’French army is ready” and could “mobilize a division of 20,000 soldiers in a month”.

A number that certainly would not seem to be able to shift the balance of power war in Ukrainealso because beyond the Alps there is discussion about the fact that the French army does not have enough missiles and planes to face a possible conflict with Russia.

In short, if we ever arrive at a catastrophic war between the West and Russia, all of NATO – including Italy – should be called into action to avoid Putin’s success, but much will also depend on the outcome of the European elections and – above all – of those scheduled in the United States and November.
