Broken nasal septum, injuries and phone theft. These are the consequences of a beating against a 20-year-old boy, targeted by a group of about ten people who robbed him, kicking and punching him at 5am on Saturday morning in Piazza XXV Aprile, the nightlife area in the center from Milan. The scene was filmed and posted on the Instagram page Welcome to favelas: the video was later removed.
The aggression
The boy was in the company of four friends, all from the Milan hinterland, waiting for a taxi when, as they told the police officers, a group arrived and surrounded them. At first everyone was involved in the beating, then the 20-year-old was targeted and became the only target. They don’t leave him. They drag him by the arm, while the victim tries to protect his head with his hands. Then the beatings start. The young man’s friends also noticed shards of bottles in the hands of one of the attackers, who fled after the raid. The boys couldn’t say whether they were Italian or not. The police arrived on the scene, alerted by neighbors and a taxi driver, and the 118 operators, who treated the victim of the robbery on the spot: the young man then preferred not to go to hospital. According to what a witness said, the two groups started chasing each other in the middle of the road “putting passing cars at risk”.
