A young 19-year-old Egyptian was arrested today, Friday 26 April, for hitting a security officer of the Jewish Brigade with a stick on the sidelines of the demonstration on 25 April in Milan, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism . It’s a young man – he writes Handle – who with eight other young people, unrelated to the pro-Palestine demonstration taking place in Piazza Duomo, was near a fast food restaurant and, with kicks, punches and a pole, launched himself against the deployment of the Jewish Brigade. The members of the group were also reported for “incitement to commit crimes for reasons of racial, ethnic and religious discrimination” while the 19-year-old was also arrested and reported for possession of a stick. Yesterday and in two symbolic cities of the partisan struggle, Rome and Milan, there were moments of tension with the throwing of objects, paper bombs and insults between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and the Jewish Brigade, present to remember the fallen of the own community. Contact was avoided only due to the presence of the police in riot gear.
