The voice of a generation speaks of his illness. The first trailer for the Prime Video documentary has been released I Am: Celine Dion, focusing on the Canadian icon’s historic career Celine Dion and about her struggle with stiff person syndrome, and the singer of My Heart Will Go On he doesn’t hold back.

The trailer opens with Dion in a recording booth, showing off his classic belt: “Is the sound engineer okay?” he asks. We then see clips of the star performing in front of thousands of people, interspersed with footage of her spending time with her twin sons, Nelson And Eddy Angelil. “When your voice brings you joy… you are at your best,” he says. “I need my instrument.”

And then tragedy strikes. In December 2022, Dion made it known that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disease that can lead to progressive muscle stiffness and painful spasms. The trailer shows behind the scenes of the video in which Dion announced her to the world diagnosisrevealing that she would have to take a step back from touring to recover: “Before I wasn’t ready to say anything, but now I am,” says the singer.

I Am: Celine Dion continues by filming Dion in the management of her illness and highlighting her immense talent through shots of her numerous and iconic live performances: «It’s not difficult to put on a show, you know. It’s hard to erase it,” he explains while undergoing physiotherapy, “I’m working hard every day, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle.”

But, combative as always, Dion is determined to return to her place: «I miss her so much. I miss people,” Dion says tearfully. “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl.”

I Am: Celine Dion will be available for streaming on June 25th.
