Not all that glitters is gold. Capo Plaza (born Luca D’Orso), after his debut in 2013, at the age of 14 by opening a channel on YouTube, took a golden path along which he collected, between singles and albums, 61 Platinum and 30 Gold records , millions of followers on social media, collaborations with emblems of the Italian rap scene and great international artists. But all this is not enough to feel good about yourself. Failure and defeat are always around the corner, just as the person’s wounds can hide behind the character. Those that Capo Plaza has now brought to light in this work. “At the beginning the album was supposed to be called victories and defeats, there was the central point of everything – he explains -. We always tend to show only the victories. Nobody ever shows the defeats, we always tend to show how much we are I have won in life, in my work, but I have suffered many wounds in my personal life. Let’s say that success is not easy to manage, there are many taboos that we have as rich artists problems. Money makes you live better, but it doesn’t buy you the things that make you live better, which is different. You don’t buy feelings, you don’t buy feeling good, you don’t avoid loneliness.”

“At the time of the last album I was 23 years old, now I’m 26, I’m not saying that I’ve become the wisest man in the world, I don’t even feel like a man yet, but I feel that I’ve grown as we all grow and I have different stimuli, I like different music, I also perceive wounds in a different way, I no longer point fingers, in fact I try first to point the finger at myself to understand, and then try to understand others, then if the other doesn’t want me understanding the problem is someone else’s.” Success not only does not solve problems but can often itself be part of the problem. “This album is the result of a process that helped me get out of a situation complicated period which still comes from having achieved success at 19, having been deprived of that simple life from 20 to 26 that perhaps someone my age could have” he says. “Even going to the cinema with friends becomes difficult. I’m already mine very insecure and shyso as soon as I have a situation like that I tend to close down, and I don’t enjoy that cinema situation.”

The rapper also talks about how much growing up scares him. “It scares me a lot, in fact I would stop at 26. One of my biggest fears is death – he says -. I think it’s not everyone’s fear, but many people have it. There is one of the things that when I think at my funeral, before going to sleep, I freeze, I don’t sleep anymore. So it’s one of my biggest fears, but even there, going back to the discussion, you have to have an awareness. Everything is born, grows and dies.” Capo Plaza has a clear view of the world and is not afraid to express judgments that may go beyond certain clichés. Like when he talks about disappointment in what he sees around him. “I don’t like it – he states -, there is too much violence, I would like the new generations to put themselves under as it is right to make even the older ones think again. I think that the greatest thing about this country is us young people, so why should we Wasting time? I hope that in twenty years there will still be some doctors and they won’t want to be all TikTokers or trappers. In my opinion, Italy needs to be modernized a bit like other countries such as England, France, Spain, they are much more multicultural, now if you are not multicultural you automatically fall behind.” But his aim is not to throw the cross on the younger ones, on the contrary. “I hope that our generations, my generations and those after me can do something good for this country. I’m certainly sorry when I see that we focus more on seeing the evil that this youth does than on the good. It’s certainly all more focused on looking at the bad that exists is the good because I assure you that there is good in this generation and I think I am proof of this.”

However, growing up in Capo Plaza does not mean losing contact with its younger fan base. “Currently I feel like I’m standing in two generations, so I can fully understand and I also consider myself a person who understands what’s happening in the world – he underlines – you simply need to stay humble and be awake. This too, in my opinion, means being a great professional rapper : keeping up with those times. Society has the system and this is also part of our work. In 2024 it is not just more music, there are 800 thousand ways to emerge, there are also those who make less money on music but it is a real character. So there are various types of careers, it’s all about the person you are and the brain you have, because we don’t forget that we are human anyway.”

In “Memories” Chief Plaza says it is more important to look to the future than to the pastand in its future, among other things there is the first concert at the Forum. “I’ve always said that I have one foot in a supercar and I’ll push until the petrol runs out. I have no plans, I just want the album to come out now, in two months you’ll be back studying and thinking about the next one. And if the petrol runs out ? It will never end, at least as long as my body can handle it and my health is there, because health comes first. My family and my health come first, regardless of my job.”

For the first time in one of his albums the rapper gave space to feat of two women, Anna and Annalisa. “I think it’s right because in recent years the figure of women both in rap, both in Italy and in the world has grown so much, I have so much respect for women – he says -. I grew up in a family of almost only women, growing up as women. I have had many relationships, the woman is always a central part of my life, in the pieces I see her a bit like the brain of the world and we men are the physical, right? work, but the brain cannot stop working”.

The experience culminates in an epic final concert on the island, where fans can experience the magic of Capo Plaza’s music in an unprecedented virtual environment. “It was definitely nice because being together with Eminem, Billie Eilish and all those people as the first Italian artist has a certain effect – he comments -. However, it was one of my dreams to do something like this with a video game also because I grew up playing video games , and I still play it today when I have time. So I’m even more proud to do it on Fortnite, which is a platform that has long combined music and gaming and to make an impact and say, see, we’re here in Italy.”
