The superstar Eminem, after weeks of speculation, has officially announced his new studio album, the twelfth of his career: and for fans it promises to be a shocking turning point, given that the work will be titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).
Eminem, who appeared on the Italian night during the first round of the NFL Draft in Detroit, also posted an official trailer for The Death of Slim Shady on his official main social media channels: the clip previews a police-procedural-inspired concept album and shows a crime reporter discussing Slim Shady’s death, the legendary and mischievous alter ego of Eminem which first appeared on the star’s debut album, 1999’s The Slim Shady LP and which accompanied him throughout his career.
“Through his complex, often criticized and whimsical rhymes, the antihero known as Slim Shady has had many enemies over the years: Who could have killed him?” asks the reporter. Even the rapper 50 Cent, Eminem’s famous collaborator, makes a cameo in the trailer: “It wasn’t a friend, it was a psychopath“he says, referring to Slim Shady. The reporter continues: “The same vulgar lyrics and controversial antics that made him famous may have caused Slim Shady’s death today. Stay with us as we try to rebuild the events leading up to Slim Shady’s murder“. Eminem also makes a funny appearance in the video, ‘coming out’ of a pixelated mask to censor his face: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim“.
Eminem’s latest album, Music to Be Murdered By, was released in January 2020. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was driven by the hit single Godzilla featuring Juice Wrld, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 .
