Between the world above and the world below

Baby Gang instead mixes the world above and the world below, evil and good, beautiful and ugly. Because this is basically what his life was like and because it is precisely in this imperfect world that the millions of young people who listen to him and for whom he is the spokesperson recognize and reflect themselves.
The dark and the light of the record
And so here is “Guerra” with which the album opens and in which Baby Gang introduces itself: “You are a bad child…”, “Bloods & Crips” and “Gangster” in which he admits: “Money, weapons and drugs they went to my head”, three songs that are the punch in the stomach we were talking about, the darkness and the “evil” of the album.
Then flashes of light make their way and there are “Miez a Via” in which Baby Gang and Geolier “pass” the bars like a ball, in a perfectly successful match. And the many “light-hearted” quotes from “I’m out of the tunnel” in “Serenata Gangster”, with Rocco Hunt, the most pop piece on the album, to Spider-Man in “Venom”, which closes the album, as if it were open, a rough and ferocious rap/trap song, which talks about the death of heroes, and in which Baby Gang returns to the “darkness” from which it started.
The crème of rap at the service of Baby Gang
“L’Angelo del Male” is a rap and trap album, which couldn’t be more rap and trap, but in the 16 tracks that compose it, the rapper and his crew of producers from Higashi to 2ndRoof, Michelangelo and Bobo, they have been able to skillfully mix different styles, languages, sounds and genres, from electronic, to pop and Latin melodies, and where the feat., at the best of their rap bars, fit in like diamonds, to enrich and embellish the final result. For the creation of the album Baby Gang has in fact called together the cream of the Italian hip hop scene: Paky, Blanco, Marracash, Emis Killa, Jake La Furia, Geolier, Gemitaiz, Madman, Lazza, Tedua, Sfera Ebbasta, Guè Pequeno, Simba La Rue, Rocco Hunt, Niko Pandetta, Fabri Fibra, Ernia and Rkomi. Many names, but the feat. “celebrities” are no longer a novelty in the world of rap, which could however seem like a convenient ploy to “distract” from the delicate situation in which Baby Gang finds itself and “clean up” his public image. They might. Or it could be the confirmation of the great esteem that many artists, of the old and new generation, have for the sharp pen and angry music of their young colleague, the most listened to Italian rapper in Europe. “I hope he resolves his legal problems, don’t judge people’s lives, it’s not always all black or white,” Marracash said some time ago. And no, it’s not all black or white. Not for Baby Gang, for him it is both black and white.
He who really put all of himself into this album, without filters and without inhibitions in a story that is a dense condensation of life. His, son of immigrant parents, originally from Morocco, ran away from home for the first time at 11 years old and grew up on the streets, often without a place to sleep, entered and left reformatories, prisons and communities until meeting Don Claudio Burgio of the Kayros association, which recognizes in him that incredible talent of speaking and communicating through music and supports him.
Complicated construction
An album, as the producers explain, which was very complicated and tiring to make amidst the bans and limitations imposed by the judges. Zaccaria Mouhib, this is the real name of Baby Gang, has in fact spent several months under the obligation to stay in Lecco, where he lives, with a ban on going out between 8pm and 9am and is now under house arrest, with of electronic bracelet, but the judges have, for now, revoked the authorizations granted relating to his musical activity, including those for the concerts, which are currently suspended and postponed.
The judicial case
A few weeks ago the Milan Police Headquarters and Prosecutor’s Office requested three years of special surveillance with an obligation to stay for the rapper, who was reported for aggravated injuries (to the detriment of an acquaintance) and returned to house arrest with an electronic bracelet in January, after the revocation of the precautionary measure of the residence obligation. Baby Gang had already been sentenced to 5 years and 2 months for the shooting that occurred in the summer of 2022, as part of a score settlement between rival gangs in the trap galaxy and to 4 years and 10 months for a robbery in Vignate, in the Milan area .
The appeal trials are set for June for the 22-year-old, while the appeal will open in May for his 21-year-old friend Mohamed Lamine Saida, known as Simba La Rue, and 5 other young people in the case of the so-called “feud between trappers”.

But neither legal troubles nor limitations have stopped him from doing what he knows and wants to do: singing, as he raps in the song “Liberi”, a sort of “ideological” manifesto of this Evil Angel fighting with the world and which summarizes his life in bars: “Judged guilty, by a herd of sheep, they tried to make me weak, just because I don’t follow their rules, but… I have nothing to lose, like a friendly send me a kiss through the letters, I want to go out as soon as possible and stop but….
