The whole city is talking about it | The role of public service in Europe | Rai Radio 3

The Scurati case shook public opinion, the media and politics over the weekend and shows us something about the relationship between TV and power. After the cancellation of the writer’s monologue from the Rai3 program Che Sara, protagonists of the intellectual and political debate intervened, a few days before April 25th and in the midst of the electoral campaign, relaunching an unresolved issue. What relationship should there be between public service RadioTV and power? And how does it work in other European countries? Guests by Pietro Del Soldà Sabino Cassese, judge emeritus of the Constitutional Court, is professor emeritus at the Scuola Normale Superiore. The crisis of bureaucracy and its remedies” (Mondadori, 2023), “The government of judges” (Laterza, 2022), Camilla Conti, journalist of the newspaper La Verità, Arianna Ciccone, founder of the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, and of the collective blog ValigiaBlu, a site of thematic insights, fact-checking and digital culture, Stefano Balassone, television critic with long experience in Rai (he was deputy director of Rai3 alongside Angelo Guglielmi), the Articolo 5 association has just been founded and numerous members have joined intellectuals, jurists and scholars, Donald Sassoon, British historian, writer and essayist, professor emeritus of Comparative European History at Queen Mary University of London. Among his books “Morbid symptoms. In our history the signals of today’s crisis” (Garzanti, 2019), Enrico Menduni, sociologist, scholar of old and new media, among his books “Television and radio in the XXI century” (Laterza 2016 ).
