Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto have been in Volo for 15 years now. And they really don’t think about stopping. Always traveling around the world. Always together. And so it will continue to be. At La Repubblica the trio formed in 2009 on the show Ti lascio una canzone with Antonella Clerici does not separate. He argues, he argues but he doesn’t break up.
The arguments
The first to respond to Silvia Fumarola is Ignazio: «Like all groups in this world we discuss, we have different ideas». And perhaps Piero is right: «If there were cameras in Italians’ homes, who knows what would come out…». But no one dreams of waking up in the morning without having one of them next to them. The answer is unanimous. Let’s move forward together. So?
We simply grow and as Gianluca underlines «We have changed. Sometimes you have to take risks to get what you never had, you can’t stay the same. There is comparison but we try to understand the other.” But there are many things that unites them and makes them unique. Here, at La Repubblica, Piero speaks for everyone: «We respect the private lives of each of us. What unites us is the fact that we know what is best for Flight. For example in the concert Tutti per uno everyone sings the musical genre that reflects them most, Il Volo is three personalities”. Gianluca’s fear, however, is that of “living without knowing how to recognize who I am. Success is a consequence, but if I earn money as an artist and don’t express my true essence, it’s not good.”
Success and money
But are the three guys from Il Volo unpleasant? Piero replies again: «Abroad you have unique experiences, we found ourselves with Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, and perhaps sometimes we made mistakes too». And how? «For us it was nice to share our lives. We no longer say what we experienced in detail so as not to appear conceited and presumptuous. If we keep quiet maybe it’s better.” Gianluca Ginoble agrees: «The problem was the ostentation».
Success also means money. And in their case a lot, a lot in both cases: The relationship with money? There’s no point in denying it, and Ignazio doesn’t do it, money “matters. We don’t have the problem of making ends meet, we are very lucky. I enjoy life and have great respect for money. Many young people don’t cultivate a passion, only the idea of becoming a millionaire.” Then Gianluca «I don’t consider myself materialistic, if a thief were to come to my house he wouldn’t find anything to steal. Collecting watches or cars doesn’t belong to me. I don’t spend 5 thousand for a bottle in a nightclub, it seems immoral to me when there are people who earn that money in five months. I spend on travel, books, anything that enriches me as a person.” Finally Piero. «I see them as a means to a comfortable life, and above all to make the wishes of loved ones come true. We must recognize the value of money, never become its victims.”
