What do you see when you close your eyes, the title of Michele Bravi’s new album actually sounds like a question. He, Michele Bravi, ex X Factoradjudicator Friends, to answer he relied on the writings of Oliver Sacks, world-famous neurologist and author, and chose to compose it by traveling around Europe between Paris, London, Amsterdam and Milan. The result is a disc that can be divided into three chapters: the gaze, the image and the iris. «The gaze – as he explains in the press notes – is what we would like to see with others, the image is what we see of others and the iris is what we try not to let others see». Inside two collaborations, one with Carla Bruni on the single French bad moodalready out for two weeks, the other with Giuliano Sangiorgi of Negramaro, who writes for him I wish I had met you before, even if for the first time Bravi, as he explains in the interview, feels more invested in responsibility, both in terms of the lyrics and the production: «It’s a record that tells of a period of autonomy that I didn’t think I had , in the past I wrote my own things with the support of a team that helped me find a geometry in the songs, as if I wanted to take away a little bit of responsibility. On this album – he continues – I gave myself the freedom to do everything myself. I thought it was an excess of arrogance, but in reality it gave me the opportunity to understand so much more.”

The musical ambience is now typical of Michele Bravi, between delicacy and intensity, a ruthless inner search, as a human being and as an artist. All emotions which, as he tells Open, he will bring back live in two special evenings (12 May at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan and 26 May at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome) with a clear method: «I don’t care that there it’s the same sound, I care that there is the same emotional impact.”
