Pathé has released the trailer for Emmanuelleremake of the erotic cult directed by Audrey Diwan and scheduled as the world premiere opening film at the next International Film Festival Saint Sebastian in September.

Turned to Hong Kongthe film is freely adapted from the novel of the same name by Emmanuelle Arsanwhich explored a woman’s sexual desires, and starred the French actress Noémie Merlantstar in Portrait of the Lady on Fire by Céline Sciamma, with whom he also wrote his latest film as director presented at the last Cannes Film Festival, The balconies.

In the film, Emmanuelle flies alone to Hong Kong on a business trip, meeting many people and getting to know them more closely and in greater depth. Yes (Will Sharpe), a man who, however, turns out to be elusive and elusive.

From the novel Emmanuelle was previously drawn a 1974 film of the same namedirected by Just Jaeckin and played by Sylvia Kristel. It became a cult hit and inspired numerous spin-offs and imitative works. According to Diwan, his retelling of the story was conceived as an exploration of pleasure in the post #MeToo era.

Diwan’s project was originally revealed at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, with Léa Seydoux in the lead role. The rights to adapt Arsan’s book were acquired by Chantelouve (Marion Delord and Reginald de Guillebon). Chantelouve, Rectangle Productions and Goodfellas produced the film. The Veterans is handling worldwide sales.
