TRON: Legacy, Jeff Bridges jokes about his digital rejuvenation: “I looked more like Bill Maher” | Cinema

On April 29, Disney announced that Jeff Bridges he was ready to step back into his shoes Kevin Flynn in TRON: Ares, the third film in the saga that began in 1982 with the film written and directed by Steven Lisberger.

In reality, however, a few days before, exactly Jeff Bridges he had remembered the experience he had with TRON: Legacy on the subject of digital rejuvenation allowing a joke on the matter. Considering that digital rejuvenation is still open to various criticisms, in the days when TRON: Legacy arrived in theaters it was an even more immature technology, which is why the actor says with amusement:

I worked on Tron 2, Tron Legacy, where we had to put all these dots on the face and stuff. It’s probably an entirely outdated technology. I had to reappear young and as another character, but the character would be created digitally. I think it was about rejuvenation, but I didn’t like the final effect. I felt like I was more like Bill Maher than myself. He was quite bizarre.

The plot of Tron: Ares it should tell the story of the arrival of Ares, a sentient program that “overflows” into the real world, unprepared to welcome it. Jared Leto will be the human manifestation of that program.

Joachim Rønning is directing, from a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, Sarah Desjardins and Jeff Bridges.

Tron: Ares will be released in cinemas on October 10, 2025.
