Through his social pages, Crunchyroll announced the future arrival in Italian cinemas, at the moment without further details, of the two films Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out And Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid.
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Outthe first of two films in the most recent animated project based on the light novel series Seishun Buta Yarō by Hajime Kamoshida, debuted in Japan on June 23, 2023.
After a grueling December, Sakuta is quickly approaching the end of his second year of high school. Since Mai is a third-year student, they don’t have much time to spend together before she graduates. Meanwhile, her sister, Kaede, is slowly but steadily venturing outdoors again. Just as she begins to find her way, she announces her most ambitious goal: to attend her brother’s high school! Sakuta knows better than anyone how difficult it will be for Kaede, and he is ready to support her however he can. Only he’s not sure if this is what’s best for her… or what he really wants…
As for the second film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kidinstead arrived in Japanese theaters on December 1, 2023.
Mai’s graduation day has finally arrived. While Sakuta waits impatiently for her girlfriend, an elementary school student identical to her appears in front of him. She suspects, and for all the wrong reasons… Meanwhile, Sakuta and Kaede’s father suddenly calls, saying that their mother wants to see her daughter. She was hospitalized because Kaede’s condition was too much for her to bear, so what could she want now?
The new project adapted the stories of volumes 8 and 9 of the light novel.

Rascal Does not Dream of… was born in 2014 as a series of light novels written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji Mizoguchi. The series aired in 2018, followed by an animated feature film in 2019. In Italy the manga adaptation of the first two narrative arcs (Bunny Girl Senpai, Petit Devil Kohai) was published by J-POP Mangawhile a third has recently been completed in Japan.
