The last Milan Derby is remembered, unfortunately for Milan fans, for Inter’s arithmetic victory of the scudetto which earned them their second star, but also for Andrea Colombo, a young Serie A referee who was the referee of that match. Como’s whistler himself spoke to Telelombardia’s microphones, telling how he experienced that Derby but not only that. Here are his statements:
On the emotion of having directed this match: “I didn’t expect to be able to manage the Derby, which every referee dreams of managing, I had a great team on the pitch and at VAR and I was happy with how it ended. I will always remember the Derby, I went with dad to watch the matches at San Siro and then being able to referee these matches. As a kid I had a liking for one of the teams, but for example one of the last times I watched it I was asleep”.
An anecdote about a Spring race: “I argued with Daniel Maldini in a Primavera match, I was very impulsive, that match was a blessing. I answered incorrectly, a player can do it, the referee can’t. I apologized, I was out of action for two months and then it was a great pleasure to meet Daniel again and also Paolo, with whom I had a good match in a match against Bologna“.
