It was an imperial ride that of Catanzaro who was able to complete an ambitious (and feasible, as we have seen) project: the return to the cadet series after 17 years in Serie C, after the distant glories of Serie A by Ceravolo . Followed by almost 9,000 fans in Salerno, the team won the title at the Stadio Arechi five days in advance, 16 points behind the others. Great celebrations in the city and full satisfaction for the fans who have believed in us since the beginning of the championship.
Pride of all of Calabria: the president of the regional council Filippo Mancuso (born in Catanzaro) spoke of “a prestigious result for all of sporting Calabria”. According to Mancuso, «“The merits go to the property, to the Noto family, which in these six years has invested in the yellow and red colors to bring Catanzaro and its passionate fans back to where they deserve. Economic solidity and managerial skills have allowed the Giallorossi club to grow year after year, on and off the pitch, also making use of the many solidarity initiatives that have made it possible to recreate that empathy that has been lacking for too long between the city and its fans”.
Crucial – said Mancuso – « in this growth path crowned with an exciting championship, the work done by management and technical staff. My sincere congratulations to coach Vivarini and his players for having achieved, through brilliant play and incredible team spirit, the goal they had in mind since the beginning of the season. And for bringing people back to the stadium, those fans who are an integral part of this success. That sporting Catanzaro which will soon have the ‘Nicola Ceravolo’ stadium redeveloped and up to standard, to play its home games in the next Serie B championship, thanks to the financial commitment guaranteed by the Region».
