“It’s an important reference point for disability,” he says
(ANSA) – ASSISI (PERUGIA), MARCH 19 – The Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli, together with the President of the Umbria Region Donatella Tesei, met the guests of the Seraphic Institute of Assisi. She was welcomed by the president of the structure, Francesca Di Maolo.
The initiative was also attended by Paola Fioroni, vice president of the legislative assembly and president of the regional observatory for people with disabilities, the councilor for health and social policies of the Umbria region, Luca Coletto, and the deputy mayor of Assisi, Valter Stoppini.
“It’s only right that I’m here and I’m really happy to be with you, my job is precisely to get to know and make known what is precious about our territory, because to implement policies that are attentive to people it is necessary to know and understand what is happening and how organizations, institutions and associations operate” said Locatelli according to a note from the Assisi institute. “The Seraphic – he added – is an important point of reference for many people with disabilities and their families, not only for Umbria but for the whole country. The added value of the Seraphic – he said addressing the operators and volunteers – it is all of you who every day provide your service alongside the boys and assist them with professionalism, with love and with all your heart”.
During the visit, the minister met the boys, talking to them and trying to understand their stories even better. You then visited the whole structure, including the special pedagogy laboratories, some of the residences and the new rehabilitation centre.
“What we would like to have conveyed to the minister – observed President Di Maolo – is the meaning that we give to life in its entirety here, through attention to the most fragile. In fact, ours is not only assistance, care and rehabilitation; Seraphic is so much more, because for these kids it’s important to create relationships and receive constant love and protection”.
