Work on the new bus station has started again – Teramo

TERAMO. The situation at Piazzale San Francesco is unblocked and the construction site is starting again. Yesterday morning, after months of hitches, projects to be tweaked and funds to be integrated, work began on the redevelopment of the bus station. An intervention for which, most recently, a variation appraisal was necessary, approved by the council about ten days ago.
Tua, the Abruzzo transport company, is the implementing body and will be able to avail itself of a Masterplan financing of 562,500 euros for the construction of the work: the project includes the arrangement of the parking area, the reorganization of the bus stalls, the installation of shelters and new lighting. The structure that houses the waiting room, the toilets and the bar will also be worked on for a cost of approximately 62 thousand euros allocated by the Municipality of Teramo.
Months ago, work had started right in this area, immediately bringing to light critical issues so serious and not previously detected that they required a review of the intervention. “We had committed, together with Tua, to restart the work by July and so it was”, said the mayor Gianguido D’Alberto underlining the strategic importance of the work for the city and for the transport system. According to the timetable, the work to renovate the square should be completed by autumn and by the end of January Tua should return the station completely renovated. “As an administration we will continue to follow the work carefully”, added the councilor for public works Mark of Mark Antony«with a view to maximum collaboration with the implementing body. We are and will be together with Tua in the executive phase, trying to shorten the intervention times and limit the inevitable inconveniences to a minimum». The construction site will involve scheduled closures of portions of the square but the bus service will not be interrupted. In the last few hours, the Municipality has signed an ordinance that provides, starting yesterday and until the end of the works, the prohibition of transit and parking for all cars in the southern portion of Piazzale San Francesco, in correspondence with the sidewalk of the Ragusa ring road and on the entire square; access to the square will be possible exclusively from Ponte San Francesco, with exit permitted only in the direction of the Ragusa ring road.
Buses that need to continue from the square towards via Alcide De Gasperi must follow the Ragusa ring road-San Gabriele bridge-via De Gasperi route.
