Gokhan Inlerthe Swiss midfielder known for his determination and leadership on the pitch, has announced his retirement from playing football, concluding a career full of successes and unforgettable moments. Inler began his professional career in Switzerland, with Basel, before establishing himself with Aarau Zurich, a club where he won the Swiss Super League. His talent took him to Italy, where he played for Udinese and, later, Napoli.
Inler’s career, in Naples and beyond
Inler’s adventure at Napoli was particularly significant. Arriving in 2011, he quickly became a central figure in the Neapolitan team, thanks to his ability to control the game in midfield and his vision of the game. During his four years at Napoli, he collected over 150 appearances and scored some crucial goals, such as the one against Villarreal who helped Napoli qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League in the 2011-12 season.
His dedication and attachment to the blue jersey have made him much loved by the fans. Inler has proven to be a leader both on and off the pitch, often wearing the captain’s armband.
