“The Salerno – Reggio Calabria High Speed Rail Line is a fundamental infrastructure for the relaunch of the South and the modernization of the country. A priority project that guarantees the continuity of an itinerary, both for passengers and goods, that is strategic for the connection between the North and the South, between Italy and Europe. For this reason, by virtue of my ministerial delegations to the commissioned projects, I am following the ongoing activities with the utmost attention”. This was confirmed by the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Transport, Tullio Ferrante, who met with RFI’s investment director Lucio Menta

The representative of the Meloni Government reassures: “The interventions, despite the technical complexity and the need to reconcile the needs of the communities, are proceeding in line with the expected times, thus allowing the delivery of lot 1a Battipaglia – Romagnano to the territory and the country by 2026. The work, divided into functional lots, will guarantee access to the high-speed / high-capacity railway system to various territories with a strong tourist and productive vocation – adds the undersecretary – with a view to providing the entire country with an infrastructure that is essential for growth and competitiveness”. During the meeting – Ferrante further informs – an update was also made on the progress of the activities regarding the enhancement, with high-speed characteristics, of the Taranto – Metaponto – Potenza – Battipaglia railway line and the new Ferrandina – Matera La Martella railway line for connecting Matera with the national railway network, for which the forecast is to respect the expected times in line with the PNRR. The construction of works so important for the country requires maximum synergy between institutions and bodies involved in various capacities, both to guarantee the rapid implementation of the interventions and the full application of the legality protocols. I will continue to work to accelerate investments in infrastructure, which – concludes Ferrante – are the real key to the social and economic development of the South and also of Italy”.
