Serious fire in the Civil Engineering area of Aprilia: the flames spread over a rather large area and licked the houses

Summer brings with it the sad and disturbing trail of fires that every year worry citizens and disfigure the Pontine territory. This time the flames broke out after lunch, around 2 pm, between via Genio Civile and via Bacchiglione. The fire involved several hectares of land and almost reached some homes. A lot of waste also burned, causing a thick column of black smoke that was clearly visible even from a distance.

The Fire Department and civil protection volunteers intervened on site. Shortly after, another fire involved the area behind the Abbvie.

For this reason, the administration has confirmed the appointment with the Shopping Days, the evening opening of the shops in the center and the events that will liven up Piazza Roma and the surrounding streets, but has moved the opening night to Saturday 6 July.

The administration’s choice was to postpone the inaugural evening, as a sign of closeness to the families of via Bacchiglione and via Selciatella, where two serious fires broke out this afternoon. The Council – explains a note – this afternoon, carefully followed the evolution of the situation and finally, reluctantly, chose to postpone the initiative so as to guarantee greater involvement of the citizens and the safe conduct of an event particularly awaited by the city.

Therefore, due to force majeure, the first date of the Shopping Days is postponed from Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th July 2024, taking advantage of the happy coincidence of the start of the summer sales. The dates of the subsequent Shopping Days remain unchanged, which will take place every Thursday in the month of July.
