On the occasion of the “Lake Varese Restoration Day” scheduled on Gavirate lakeside Saturday 6th July, AQST e Lombardy region they asked to EcoRun Varese to organize a running event time to raise awareness in the community towards more sustainable lifestyles and active in a natural environment of great value such as the one that frames our lake.
Thus was born the “RUN FOR LAKE VARESE“, a non-timed and non-competitive race with departure and arrival at the Lido di Gavirate, which takes place entirely along the cycle/pedestrian path to guarantee the safety and enjoyment of participants, without causing changes or limitations to road traffic.
The race includes the “individual” formula of complete tour of the lake of about 28 km and the “relay” formula (male, female or mixed) which divides the route into three sections: Gavirate-Schiranna of approximately 9 km, Schiranna-Cazzago Brabbia of approximately 10 km, Cazzago Brabbia-Gavirate of approximately 9 km. To participate you must be of legal age and whoever does the full tour will have to show the medical certificate for non-competitive sports activities.
Thanks to Acinque Spathe sole sponsor of the event, and the collaboration of the Lombardy Region, EcoRun Varese has the opportunity to offer an important running event completely free of charge, guaranteeing the Race packthe t-shirt tecnica ai first 200 subscribers, two intermediate refreshments it’s a final refreshment and even awarding a prize to the first three classified among men, women, men’s, women’s and mixed relays.
The departure is scheduled for 9.15 am from Lido di Gavirate. Registrations have already started via a Google form (available on the website www.ecorunvarese.it) but it will be possible register on site even on Saturday morning starting at 7:30.
In the designated exchange zones (in the Schiranna area and at the Cazzago Brabbia icehouses) Intermediate refreshment points will be set up with water, saline supplements and fruit, as well as toilets. In Gavirate, from 8:30 a shuttle bus service will allow the relay runners to be transferred to the starting point and back to the base.
Essential as always the logistical support from numerous volunteers and friends of EcoRun Varese and associations such as the Ecological Guards of the Municipality of Varesethe Pro Loco of Gavirate, ANC – Varese Section.
With this race EcoRun Varese has set itself several objectives: promote sporting activity in the open air with consequent improving public health; provide opportunities for families and groups of friends to meet and have fun, strengthening the social fabric; encourage appreciation of the wonders of our territory, such as Lake Varese, and the infrastructures we have, such as the cycle/pedestrian path that surrounds it; highlight and disseminate the activities underway for the protection and improvement of the environment of Lake Varese, also through collaboration with AQST and with the partner associations of the newly formed Network of Lake Varese and Comabbio, of which EcoRun Varese is part and which will be present at the event.
