PAVIA – In the first session of the new Pavia City Council, the mayor Michael Lissia He outlined an ambitious vision for the city, which focuses on inclusiveness, technological progress and attention to the most vulnerable. The packed hall enthusiastically welcomed the mayor’s speech, which summarized the programmatic lines of the new administration.

The debut of the new City Council was met with great emotion, especially among the new members of local politics. Numerous citizens crowded the hall, applauding warmly when the mayor, wearing the tricolor sash, swore to loyally observe the Italian Constitution.

The election of the president and vice president of the City Council showed great mutual respect between the majority and the opposition. Fabio Castagna (PD) he was elected president with 32 votes, and Matteo Chiu (FdI) became vice president with the same number of votes. Both voted blank. After the appointment of the electoral commission, the Council entered into the heart of the discussion.

He proposed the construction of five inclusive open-air gyms and emphasized the importance of sports in the suburbs as a factor of social cohesion. The participatory budget, which in the past had involved many citizens in planning the future of the city, and neighborhood committees will also return.

Regarding mobility, the improvement of public transport will be accompanied by the introduction of free forms of transport for some segments of the population, to encourage the use of public transport. A councilor will be delegated to safeguard animal rights.

Finally, Lissia said that Pavia can become Capital of Culture, taking advantage of its history, prestige and tradition. He cited the completion of Santa Clara and the recovery of Mirabello Castle as key cultural projects.
